Memorial Bricks Program

sample brick
During the construction phase of the library, patrons were given the opportunity to sponsor the purchase of a brick with up to three lines of information engraved on it. These bricks were placed as part of the walkway to the front doors.

Now, in response to patrons' requests, we are once again opening up the opportunity to the community to recognize a loved one or favorite organization with the donation of an engraved brick. Weather permitting, we plan to start this project at the beginning of April.

The cost to sponsor the purchase of an engraved brick will be $75. Proceeds will be used to purchase and install the bricks and to help maintain the walkway in future years.

Please be aware that due to weather and traffic, the lifespan of engravings appears to be about twenty to twenty-five years, sometimes less. Once a brick has worn out, the library will do its best to contact you or your family again to determine whether you would like to donate again to replace your brick.

If you sponsored a brick in 2000, this is a great time to renew your support for the library by adding one or more additional bricks. If your original brick is no longer legible, the library will be contacting you directly.

An order form is available here, or you may pick one up at the library. The form and your donation must be returned to us by March 1, 2018. (The library now accepts payments by credit card and PayPal!)

Library staff are always available if you have any questions.

The Plaistow Public Library has so much to offer - books, magazines and newspapers, computers and printing, storytimes and craft projects, author visits, book groups, and workshops.

But there's so much more we wish we could do!

New technology and computing resources, best-selling authors, "makerspace" hands-on learning programs for young and old, music performances, new museum passes ... and then of course more behind the scenes but still nice-to-have things like upgrades to our grounds and infrastructure.

Our wish list takes us well beyond our annual budget!

But you can help.
